Tracking my Progress

I found a helpful tool I'm using to help me track my progress. It's a website here users log in and are instantly directed to a "locker room", where I can track/record my workouts, log my daily nutritional goals and overall view my activities.

Day 3

Training: Swimming
30 min swim. 10 laps easy.

Equipment: Rode bike
Today I purchased my first rode bike! A Centurion Accordo. I'm pretty pumped about it. It's pretty old school, steel-frame, needs some tlc, but none-the-less it's a start.

Day 2

Day #2.
Picked up the first of my equipment for this journey today. Nike swim cap, and Nike goggles.
After scouring craigslist.com for several hours found a couple road bikes that I'm interested in picking up for training next spring. Went and looked, pretty sure I'm going back tomorrow to pick up my first road bike!

Today, with a late night of work, training took a back seat. Though today did involve several hours of race preparation. I had to design, and organize a binder for our lobby at work, FitnessTogether Eagle. We want a display in our front lobby so that clients, or walk-ins, or whoever comes through our studio to learn what this is about.
It turned out pretty well, it incorporates where/ how Ironman's came into being, the current Boise course maps, sponsorship and volunteer information, and blog info!

I already think that it's going to be the prep work like this that will be the most difficult. The physical training will come naturally. The busy work, organizing, planning, and implementing will take a ton of time and dedication.

9 months away, Day #1

This weekend I began my official start to the Boise Ironman 70.3 competition. With the nervous click of a mouse, I am on my way to one of the most challenging events of my life. For those of you who don't know, this is going to be a 70.3 mile Triathlon in Boise Idaho, June 13th 2009.
In just a few days, since my online registration, I have discovered how big of an undertaking this really is going to be. I have so much to plan for, 9 months is barely going to be enough time to prepare. On top of training, and attempting to craft my body and mind into the physical condition that a race of this caliber requires, I also have to take on the challenges of equipment, time, nutrition, sponsors..... Let me tell you, this is going to be incredible to pull this off.

But I'm excited and motivated to push myself further than I have before. Today was day #1. I spent 30 mins in the pool, lap swimming, just to get my "feet wet" (so to say). So with a little more planning and adjusting I should have my training schedule (roughly planned) this week.
